Introduction
The U of A football stadium is an iconic image on the campus of the University of Arizona. The structure is large and seen from the majority of campus buildings. Although the primary use of the stadium is to play football games, the stadium stands for something more. The stadium brings people together and creates great memories for students at the university. The stadium is also home to a very unique home for many students, as there is a dorm built within the stadium. The pictures of the stadium show that all areas of the stadium are great places for friends, family, and fans to gather. When analyzed, it’s clear to see that the stadium is not used just for football games.
Entrance For The Passionate Students
The Zona Zoo entrance is a common ground for students of the University of Arizona to meet prior to a home football game. The picture itself solely shows a pair of signs that read “Zona Zoo Entrace” with an arrow pointing down. Both of the signs are old and have somewhat eroded over time, signifying the growth and history of the Zona Zoo itself. The entrance is an icon of the beginning of the football game experience; it also is where the students who have purchased a “Zona Zoo” pass enter the football game. The rich tradition and events that take place at the entrance are some of the great memories these students take from their college experience. Many students gather at the entrance many hours before the game begins, many of them tailgating. When the gates open, two hours before the game starts, the students file into the stadium and wait in anticipation for the game to begin. The decision to pick the Zona Zoo entrance was fairly easy, due to the fact that the students who attend the game contribute greatly to the overall atmosphere of the game. With that being said, the one single picture that could capture the student section as a whole was the entrance for the students. The ZonaZoo entrance is an important piece of the overall U of A home football game, and college experience.
A Common Area For The Common Fan
The stadium ticket office is also an icon to the start of any U of A home football game, but this somewhat of an entrance is not for the students. The stadium ticket office is an area for any casual fan, tourists, local, or anyone else to purchase tickets. There are many windows where fans can walk up to buy tickets, which helps keep lines short. The sign that identifies the ticket window is also somewhat old and in shabby condition. This also represents the tradition and history of the fans that attend these football games for the U of A. The ticket window is one area where all types of fans and people can meet. There is also a team schedule for the U of A located on top of the ticket window, in case fans would like to purchase tickets for a game that is later in the season as well. Opposing teams fans also are allowed to walk to purchase tickets for their respective team. The group’s decision to use this photo was also quite simple. This was mainly due to the fact that we felt that we needed a way to incorporate the rest of the fans that attend the football games, not only the students. This picture stood out the most because although the ticket office looks dead, that’s how it starts many days as fans can walk up at anytime to purchase tickets for the game of their choice.
Not Only A Football Stadium
The football stadium is not all about just football. This is shown in this picture, as it is the Navajo dorm for U of A students. The writing of the word “Navajo” matches the font of many other words located within the stadium, really making it feel like a part of the stadium. The words appear to be cemented into the building, symbolizing how the dorm really is cemented within the stadium. The dorm is one of the oldest on campus, and it’s clear that the dorm won’t be going anywhere anytime soon. The university made a very unique decision by placing this dorm here for reasons concerning noise during the game and possible rumbling. Students that reside in this dorm have said that noise is minimal and studying can take place during a home football game. Our group chose this area of the football stadium because it is very rare to find a dorm within a football stadium. The uniqueness of it alone made it for a great picture. Breaking away from the norm, the U of A chose to use this space as a dorm and it is nationally recognized as being the most unique space in a football stadium. The dorm on the inside is also unique, as the size of the room, and the situation of the furniture is unlike any other dorm at the U of A. Overall, the Navajo dorm is a very unique and interesting dorm.
A Modern Commonground For Everyone
The scoreboard of Arizona Stadium really brings all the aspects of the actual game aspect for all fans that attend. The scoreboard is very modern, as it was renovated in 1999, with a very easy interface for fans, coaches, players, and media to find the information their looking for. Representing the modern day U of A fans and team, the scoreboard seems to pump a modern and energetic flow into the stadium. The score of the game, time left in the game, play clock, timeouts remaining, and advertisements are the main things that are seen on the scoreboard. There is also a large Television screen in the middle of it all, which also shows advertisements and stats throughout the game. The television also helps bring the fans together with chants to follow along together and games to play. Our group chose this picture because the first three pictures really pointed out specific groups that go to the stadium, and this picture really ties them all together. Not only the fans, but also the players and coaches use the scoreboard. The last thing that many attendees of the game see as they head out of the stadium, is the scoreboard still glowing thanking them for coming out to watch the U of A football team.
Wrapping It Up
Analyzing the University of Arizona football stadium has helped me see it through a different lens. At first glance the stadium looks solely as a place for football games, but changing the lens on it really has helped change my perception on the stadium. The U of A football stadium is a great place for students and fans to make some of their greatest college memories.
